ABOUT US





The Weiner Ensemble was established from final year and doctorate students of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in September, 2014 under the supervision of professor Márta Gulyás.

The group’s main goal is to broaden the repertoire of this special instrumentation, the so-called pierrot ensemble formation, as well as introducing it to a broader audience. The repertoire of the ensemble contains music from solo pieces of the baroque era to 20th century, contemporary ensemble compositions and pieces of young Hungarian composers.

In honour of the chamber music work and traditions of the Hungarian composer Leo Weiner, and with the approval and support of the Weiner Leo Foundation, the chamber group changed its name to Weiner Ensemble in September 2015.



Csaba pálfi



Clarinettist





Csaba Pálfi received his diploma with honours at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest in 2011. In the same year Csaba has been invited to the Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander Festival where he had opportunity to play with remarkable musicians such as Wolram Christ, Hansjörg Schellenberger and Radovan Vlatkovič. Csaba was the member of the Britten-Pears Orchestra in 2015 under the guidance of Nicholas Daniel and Oliver Knussen.


Besides his academic studies Csaba expanded his knowledge at numerous masterclasses such as François Benda, Yehuda Giladl, Michael Collins and Laura Ruíz.


Csaba is a founder member of the Weiner Ensemble, since 2010 Csaba is a member of the Zugló Philharmoincs



réka baksai



Violinist





Réka Baksai is a doctoral student at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and from 2014 September she is a member of Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra. Beside the orchestral work Réka is an active chamber musician as well, she is a founder member of the Weiner Ensemble and Classicus String Quartet.


At the last half decade Réka has won several prizes at international competitions for instance at the T.I.M. International Competition (3rd prize) and at the Summa Cum Laude Internation Music Festival in Austria, where she received 1st prize as a member of the Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra


Réka has developed her skills at numerous masterclasses with artists such as Gyula Stuller, Katalin Sebestyén, Simon Standage and Kristóf Baráti.



IMRE DANI



Pianist





Recognized for his inspired performances and great virtuosity, Hungarian pianist Imre Dani has received his diploma with honours at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary. During his academic studies, Imre was a student of Prof. Balázs Szokolay and András Kemenes.



Imre has won numerous grants and prizes at competitions. In 2011 he won the Yamaha Scholatrshipin Budapest and he won the first prize in the 21th International Johannes Brahms Competition Pörtschach in 2014. In 2013 Imre won the Hungarian National Ernst Dohnányi Chamber Music Competition in Debrecen with Eszter Karasszon and Eszter Király. Imre improved his playing at the masterclasses of Dmitri Bashkirov, Evgeni Koroliov, Malcolm Bilson and Péter Nagy.



Imre gave several solo concerts in Budapest, Wien, Weimar, Graz. Besides his solo recitals Imre is an active chamber musician as well, founder member of the Weiner Ensemble and member of the Ludium Ensemble.




janka jámbor



Cellist





Janka Jámbor is an active soloist and chamber musician, she has received her diplomas from the Academies in Budapest (with Prof. László Mező) and in Berlin (with Prof. Wolfgang Boettcher). At the age 14 she was accepted to the Franz Liszt Academy of Music as an exceptional young talent student. A prizewinner of numerous international competitions, including Concorso Europeo International Cello Competition (Gorizia, Italy) and the David Popper International Cello Competition (Hungary).


Janka was the member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (2013-2015) and the European Union Youth Orchestra (2012-2013). Janka took part at International Orchestra Institute in Attergau and the Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander Festival, where she had opportunity to play with musicians such as Corinne Chapelle, Natacha Kudritskaya and Marco Rizzi.


Janka is playing on a cello ‘aus der Vuillaume Schule’ as a scholarship winner of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben Hamburg. Janka is currently studying at the Doctoral School of the Franz Liszt Academy.



MÁté bán



Flutist





Máté has received his diploma with honours at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in 2015 at the class of Erika Sebők and János Bálint. During his academic studies Máté has won position at the flute section of the Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra.


Máté has won several prizes in internatinoal competitions such as at the International Flute Competition of the Polish Flute Festival (Sieradz) and the Friedrich Kuhlau International Flute Competition, in the category of flute duo with Lívia Duleba. Máté has awarded the scholarship of Dongszan Foundation and the grant of the Erste Bank as well.
In 2014 Máté received the Junior Prima Award, which is the most prestigous Hungarian award for young talents.


Máté has developed his musical knowledge at the masterclasses of Emmanuel Pahud, James Galway, András Adorján, Felix Renggli, Christian Studler, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Radovan Vlatkovič, András Keller, János Bálint, Zoltán Gyöngyössy and István Matuz.


Since 2015 Máté is a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Music of the University Debrecen.
